How to add subtitles or captions to a video and a video player

How to add subtitles to the video

1. Select the Contents tab and click on a video entry.

2. Select the Captions tab.
3. Click Add Another Caption.

4. Enter a Label that will appear in the player’s captions drop-down menu. For example: English.
5. Assign a Language to the caption from the drop down menu.
6. Select the Type. Choose SRT or DXFP.
7. Either paste an external URL in the File Location or click Upload File and upload an SRT or DFXP file from your computer.

How to handle multiple subtitles

1. Select Add Another Caption to add additional captions files and repeat steps 4 to 7.
2. Click Save
3. In the Actions column click Set as Default.(optional – use for multiple languages)

! Make sure that you have captions enabled and configured in the video player !

1. Go to the videoplayer tab via the main navigation
2. Go to the video player where you want to activate and style captions 
3. Press on the Look and Feel icon. The following tab will open

4. Check the box next to Closed Captions to enable this option.

   

5. Select the layout (location on the video) from the drop down menu.
6. Modify other closed captions’ options as required.
7. Click Apply Changes to preview your modifications.
8. Click Save Player Settings.

Our subtitles scale based on the original player size set in the player studio. Increase the size of the video player in the player studio to a standard of 1280*720 (so 720 pixels high), in combination with a 32-font size of the subs, this now yields a good result in terms of scaling on desktop and mobile.
